Succession actor Nicholas Braun, David Castaneda and O-T Fagbenle have joined the cast of The Climb director Michael Covino’s upcoming sex comedy Splitsville, from Neon and Topic Studios.

The film also stars the previously announced Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona, Covino and Kyle Marvin. Neon International is shopping Splitsville at AFM in Las Veags this week. The indie recently wrapped production.

The comedy centers on Ashley (Arjona), who has asked for a divorce from good-natured Carey (Marvin), who then runs to his friends Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino) for support. Carey is then shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage, which he attempts, only to cross the line and throw all of their relationships into chaos.

Covino and Marvin made their breakout with 2019’s acclaimed indie comedy The Climb, which was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics after premiering at Cannes. The duo co-starred in the film, which also marked Covino’s directorial debut and revealed him as a talent to watch.

Neon will release Splitsville domestically and plans a 2025 release. Neon International is handling worldwide sales. Neon and Topic Studios previously collaborated on Brandon Cronenberg’s Infinity Pool, which marked Neon’s first in-house production to hit movie theaters.

Splitsville was developed at Topic Studios as part of a multi-year first look deal with Covino and Marvin after their partnership on Covino’s directorial debut The Climb. Along with Topic Studios and Neon, Covino and Marvin are producing with Emily Korteweg under the team’s production banner Watch This Ready.

Johnson, Ro Donnelly, and Samantha Racanelli are also producing for TeaTime Pictures, with Arjona and Paul Barbeau serving as executive producers.

Braun is repped by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Castañeda is repped by Buchwald and Stark Management. Fagbenle is repped by Buchwald.
