He often infuses feminine details into otherwise classic staples, maintaining a balance between wearability and subtle eccentricity. Picture a bow on a chiffon blouse peeking out from beneath a striped mohair jumper, a sequin-studded collar on a crisp poplin shirt, or a cozy hoodie printed with animalier motifs. For fall, Dell’Acqua imbued his collection with a country spirit, gently hybridized with workwear and a feeling of insouciance.
Vividly colored tartan was crafted into an oversized duffle coat lined with sheepskin; loose corduroy trousers, striped tees, and checkered punkish shirts were styled with the laid-back cool that is one of Dell’Acqua’s signatures. An Argyle cardigan took on an eccentric dandy vibe when paired with a poplin shirt featuring a bow-tied collar, while a voluminous faux-fur coat with a cape-scarf was both attention-grabbing and playful. “It’s about hacking elements that are apparently opposed, and mixing them together, even if they look a little off,” said the designer. “The beauty of a cool personal style lies in its flaws and errors.”
