It was, at first, breezy and a bit overcast in Los Angeles as early arrivers turned up to the Will Rogers State Historic Park for Veuve Clicquot’s Polo Classic, but out came a beaming sun just as the crowd at the event’s VIP Sun Club grew, almost as if just for the occasion.
This year’s function, many were in agreement, was even bigger than the last in Los Angeles (which was three years ago), and the heralded champagne brand turned out a celebrity attendee list to match, with names such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Quinta Brunson, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, Storm Reid, and Victoria Justice among the bunch. Also mingling in the crowd were polo stars Ignacio (Nacho) Figueras and his wife, Delfina Blaquier, who later swapped chic outfits for their team Veuve uniforms before heading onto the field.
As far as ways to spend a Saturday go, lounging under a giant canopy sipping Veuve Clicquot’s new Rich champagne collection is a pretty ideal option, and some, including Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse, who made it by amid Waterhouse’s tour for her new album “Memoir of a Sparklemuffin” for their first public outing together since welcoming their daughter in March. “I’m really fascinated between the relationship between the horse and the player, and the emotional connection that they all share,” Waterhouse told Vogue, noting it was her first time attending a polo match. What is one most excited about when attending their first polo match (or at least Veuve Clicquot’s)? “Well,” Waterhouse says. “I’m definitely excited to get to the drinking part of the day.”
