Sarah Paulson Wants to Star in a Comedy, Maybe ‘Legally Blonde?’

Sarah Paulson is ready to showcase her comedic skills on the big screen.

The American Horror Story actress was recently asked during BuzzFeed’s “The Puppy Interview” which film genre she would love to star in next.

“I want someone to put me in a fucking comedy. Nobody puts me in a comedy,” she said. “All you want me to do is scream and run from a clown. You don’t understand that I’m like a gentle, nice, charming, funny person.”

Paulson also already had an idea of who she would like her costar to be in a potential comedy. “I’m going to say Cate Blanchett… I’d like to work with her in the horror genre, actually. Also, I would like to do a buddy picture with her, a road comedy. There’s something no one asked Cate Blanchett to do and no one asked me to do either, which is the comedy. And she’s really funny, so I’d like to do that,” she said. “I’d also like to work with Sandy [Sandra] Bullock again. I’d like to do something like serious with her, maybe.”

On the topic of comedy, the Hold Your Breath star also has another film franchise in mind. Paulson was later asked which of her real-life partner Holland Taylor’s past roles she would love to play, and she was quick to respond with Taylor’s Professor Stromwell character in 2001’s Legally Blonde, starring Reese Witherspoon.

“I probably would like to be in ‘Legally Blonde,’ I’d like to play that teacher. Iconic,” she said.

And Paulson might be able to have her wishes come true, like her role in The Bear, as there are multiple projects in the Legally Blonde universe currently in the works. Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are writing a script for Legally Blonde 3, which would see Witherspoon reprise her role as Elle Woods. Witherspoon is also producing a prequel series titled Elle for Prime Video.
