While it was a clash in style, it was not in vibes. The pair had a warm reunion on stage, with Chalamet lolloping toward Ronan to give her a bear hug. The duo first worked together on Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird in 2017, and later on Gerwig’s Little Women in 2019. “We’re really lucky that the two of us are doing really well, and our paths can continue to cross,” Ronan said. Chalamet shared that he first heard about Ronan through Emery Cohen, who had worked with Ronan on Brooklyn in 2016. “I kept hearing this name ‘Saoirse, Saoirse’ and didn’t put two and two together when I saw the name spelled out, because I’m an ignorant American, but then we got to work and I was just blown away immediately,” he said.
“Everyone was sort at a genesis, especially on Lady Bird,” Chalamet added of their intertwining successes. “It was a small production and I feel like we had no clue how well received it was going to be.”

Ronan’s ongoing collaboration with Goldberg has seen her step out in fresh off the runway pieces, archival pieces, and buzzy younger labels. Chalamet has been having a lot of fun, becoming Chemena Kamali’s first Chloé it-boy with a custom suede jacket that recalls the aesthetic of a young Dylan. He topped a year of method dressing with his appearance at the New York premiere of A Complete Unknown, mimicking a surly-looking Bob Dylan’s appearance at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival—feat. blond bangs and a beanie.
Ronan’s husband Jack Lowden, who she co-produced her film The Outrun with, was in the audience. Both Chalamet and Ronan are on the awards season path and tipped for big accolades in the coming months, so expect to see more reunions on the red carpet, and the pair rooting for each other always.
