Ashley Iaconetti rushed her infant son Hayden to the emergency room over the weekend because he was crying uncontrollably — and the reason why took her by surprise.
The Bachelor in Paradise alum, 36, documented the nail-biting episode via her Instagram Stories on Monday, November 11. Iaconetti’s husband, Jared Haibon, whom she met on the Bachelor spinoff’s season 2 in 2015, accompanied her to the hospital with Hayden and their 2-year-old son, Dawson.
As for Hayden, born in July, the reality star informed her followers that the family was in the ER “right now.” She explained, “And before you think it’s something serious, well, after he scream-cried for an hour and we were very scared and had no idea what was going on, we brought him here.”
Once they arrived on the scene, they figured out what the issue was: a thread from Hayden’s sock had wrapped around his toe, making him uncomfortable.
“As a mom, I know this is one of the things to check for before bringing your kid to the ER,” Iaconetti said. “And I forgot.”
She added, “So this is a reminder if your kid’s insanely fussy, check their toes, and their little ding dong if it’s a boy.”
When Hayden returned home, Iaconetti posted a video update of the little one swaddled in a towel and fidgeting happily.
“He felt better the moment it was untied,” she wrote. “His toe wasn’t purple yet, just red and swollen. It’s so weird because I was thinking about baby hair tourniquets this weekend randomly, but of course in the midst of chaos I didn’t think of it.”
Earlier this year, Iaconetti told Us Weekly exclusively that giving birth to Hayden was “actually easier than the first. I had two great deliveries and this one could not have been done better. Like, I basically didn’t feel pain. I felt pressure and really [no] pain.”
With Dawson, however, “I probably felt pain for like an hour — going from triage to the delivery room and waiting for the epidural for a little bit,” she reflected at the time. “[This time], I was induced and it was just kind of like a doctor’s appointment. It was awesome.”
