Daddy Yankee claims estranged wife withdrew $100 million ‘without authorization’ amid divorce: report

Daddy Yankee claims his estranged wife, Mireddys González, withdrew $100 million from two corporate bank accounts without his “knowledge” or “authorization,” according to a new report.

The Puerto Rican rapper — born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez — alleged in court documents filed last week in San Juan and obtained by Billboard that González took $80 million from his El Cartel Records account and another $20 million from his Los Cangris account.

González allegedly served as CEO and her sister Ayeicha González Castellanos allegedly served as secretary/treasurer of the record labels founded by Yankee.

According to the reggaetón hitmaker, the alleged theft of company funds occurred on Thursday after he had already revoked González and González Castellanos’ authority and “warned that they could not carry out any transactions on behalf of” the businesses.

Yankee, 47, claimed that he “lacks access, interference and information to all that he generated and continues to generate and to which he is entitled.”

He asked the court to enforce “immediate removal” of González, also 47, and González Castellanos “from any function or interference in the corporations as officers or administrators thereof and the delivery of the information and documentation that they have illegitimately withheld.”

The Grammy winner claimed the sisters improperly obtained “a greater power over the operations of the Cartel than was authorized, which has resulted in a detrimental and negligent performance for the company.”

Furthermore, he alleged that they “failed to render an accurate account of their actions, disregarded formalities and requirements of the corporate legislation [and made] irresponsible financial decisions.”

For example, Yankee claimed González hired a third party to represent El Cartel in the sale of his music catalog to Concord for an amount that “turned out to be unreasonable, disproportionate and far below the real value.”

The “Gasolina” chart-topper was allegedly “not provided with a copy of all the contract documents, and to this day he does not know the real scope of the transaction, nor does he have detailed knowledge of what was or was not sold, nor the limitations he may have on the use of his musical creations.”

He went on to call González’s alleged $20 million withdrawal from the second account a “desperate attempt” that went against the “warnings received and express requests that she put a stop to any management and initiative that would compromise the company’s finances.”

The musician’s filing stated, “It now becomes evident why she has wanted to keep him in the dark and deny him information about the withdrawals and cash movements that she and her sister make behind his back.”

González and González Castellanos did not immediately respond to Billboard’s requests for comment.

Earlier this month, Yankee revealed that he and González — his high school sweetheart — were divorcing after nearly 30 years of marriage.

In a Spanish statement shared via his Instagram Story, the man behind “Despacito” explained that he spent “many months” trying to “save [his] marriage” but ultimately had to “respect” González’s “decision” to file for divorce.

The former couple — who wed in March 1995 — share daughter Jesaaelys, 28, and son Jeremy, 26. Yankee is also dad to another daughter, Yamilet, from a previous relationship.

During the last day of his farewell tour, La Meta (The Goal), in December 2023, he announced that he was retiring from music to serve God.
