Gal Gadot is “pulling back the curtain” on the health scare that forced her to undergo emergency surgery when she was eight months pregnant.
The “Wonder Woman” star, 39, revealed the “terrifying truth” she discovered after experiencing “excruciating headaches” while she was pregnant with her daughter Ori earlier this year.
“In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain,” Gadot posted on Instagram Sunday.
“For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth.”
The health scare served as a “stark reminder of how quickly everything can change” and how “fragile life can be,” the “Red Notice” actress added.
The mother of four — who is married to Jaron Varsano — continued, “In the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.
“We rushed to the hospital, and within hours, I underwent emergency surgery. My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear.”
Gadot — who announced her daughter’s birth in early March — explained that Ori’s name “wasn’t chosen by chance,” as her name means “my light” in Hebrew.
“Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel,” she wrote.
Gadot then went on to thank the medical team at Cedars-Sinai for helping her on the “road to recovery.”
“Today, I am fully healed and filled with gratitude for the life I’ve been given back,” she wrote. “The journey has taught me so much.”
The actress encouraged her followers to “listen to [their] bodies and trust what it’s telling us.”
Gadot further stated that her post wasn’t intended to “frighten anyone” but rather to “empower” and compel others to “take action for their health.”
Gadot then took to the comments section to gush over Ori’s birth following the health scare.
“Giving birth is a miracle, a testament to the strength and resilience of our bodies and spirits. But it also demands so much from us, reminding us to care for ourselves as fiercely as we care for others,” she added.
“As we celebrate Hanukkah, a holiday of light and miracles, I reflect on the personal miracle I was granted. My daughter, Ori, is a constant reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength we carry within.”
Gadot and her husband are also proud parents to three other daughters: Alma, 13, Maya, 7, and Daniella, 3.
