Jill Zarin’s daughter, Ally Shapiro, reflects on ‘tough’ year after engagement, split

Jill Zarin’s daughter, Ally Shapiro, is reflecting on 2024 as the year comes to an end.

“2024 has been one of the most incredible years of my life, but also one of the toughest,” the 32-year-old captioned an Instagram carousel Tuesday, admitting that she’s “never laughed — or cried — so hard.”

“But I know that wherever you are is where you’re meant to be. And it’s never about where you end up, but the journey you took to get you there,” she continued, acknowledging that she’s “filled with aphorisms” these days.

The brunette beauty made sure to note that she’s “so grateful [she] was able to spend some time with [her] extended family — thinking, meditating, manifesting, reminiscing, planning & dreaming.”

She concluded her post by pointing out that although “no one can predict the future,” she’s “ready for it ❤️.”

The photos in the slideshow included shots of her riding a horse, relaxing in an outdoor hot tub, practicing archery, playing tambourine near a campfire, making s’mores and hanging out with the “Real Housewives of New York City” alum.

One of the images also showed a note from an Arizona-based resort and spa that read, “You will always know what is right for you and what is wrong for you. Trust your intuition.”

Two months later, however, the former couple called off their engagement and went their separate ways. allyshapiro/Instagram

After two and a half years of dating, Bilfeld proposed to Shapiro in Spain during a European vacation with Zarin and the former Bravolebrity’s boyfriend, Gary Brody, in August.

By Halloween, however, they had called off their engagement and gone their separate ways.

“After much reflection, [they have] made the difficult decision to end their engagement,” Zarin, 61, told Page Six. “As a family, we are focused on supporting [Shapiro] through this time.”

She added, “We appreciate your understanding and request privacy on this personal matter.”

A source went on to tell us that there were already “issues” between Shapiro and Bilfield when they threw an engagement party in the Hamptons in September.

We were told the pair hoped their relationship would “settle down” and decided to put on a united front in the meantime.

Eventually, “a decision was made” to call off the engagement, according to our source, who noted that the duo’s pals were shocked by the news.

Two weeks later, Shapiro appeared on “Jeff Lewis Live” but let the inquiring radio show host know that she was “not ready to talk about” the breakup out of “respect for [Bilfeld], respect for his family [and respect for] his friends.”

She did, however, confirm that the split was “very fresh,” prompting Lewis, 54, to ask whether the two were “over” for good.

“I mean, when it’s that big of a decision, I feel like there is no …” Shapiro replied, trailing off.

“Going back?” Lewis interjected, to which she responded, “Yeah.”

Earlier this month, Page Six heard that the businesswoman — who works as the creative director of Jill & Ally, a line of crystal-embedded manifestation candles — went on a date with art-dealer-turned-“Love Is Blind” star Leo Braudy.
