One of Meghan Markle’s friends is offering a glimpse into the Duchess of Sussex’s life as a mom ahead of her new Netflix show.
“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting @meghan over food, and let me tell you, she and her well-known significant other are some of the most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met,” Chef Adrian Lipscombe wrote via Instagram on Monday, January 6. “We talked about our families (mostly about our daughters being in their princess phase and the movies they love) and, of course, about food.”
Markle and Prince Harry share Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. It’s unclear if the royal couple’s children will be featured in the Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming Netflix show titled With Love, Meghan.
When recalling her chats with Markle, Lipscombe remembered Markle as a mom who was both gracious and thoughtful.

“She didn’t rush the conversation, even though I was taking up her time,” she shared. “[Markle] was gracious, engaged and kind.”
Lipscombe felt compelled to speak out after she saw a negative article about Markle’s upcoming TV show based on a sneak preview.
On January 2, Netflix released the first trailer of With Love, Meghan. The nearly two-minute clip offered a look at Markle’s life in California — including a sweet moment with her husband.
According to Netflix’s official logline, the show “reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming” with Markle at the forefront “blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends.”

After highlighting an article that stated, “I’m Already Bored by Meghan Markle’s New Netflix Series,” Lipscombe said she decided to speak out.
“How are you going to criticize someone or judge a TV show before it has even aired?” she said. “And let’s talk about the bigger picture here — where are the Black female-led shows and roles in the food world? Representation is already so scarce, and now, a show that has the potential to spotlight food, culture and storytelling is being torn apart before it even has a chance. This isn’t just about Meghan Markle. It’s about a systemic issue in media and entertainment that continues to dismiss or belittle efforts by women, especially women of color, to create something meaningful.”
After returning to Instagram at the start of 2025, Markle seemingly ignored the critics and instead expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work on a personal project.
“I have been so excited to share this with you!” she wrote via the app on January 3. “I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support — and fun!”
With Love, Meghan premieres on Netflix Wednesday, January 15.
