The Key Hairstyle Trend at Milan Fashion Week Spring 2025 Is All About Knots

MILAN — Dust off your Girl Scout or sailing skills, for they might be needed to keep pace with the beauty trends seen here during fashion week.

When it came to hairstyles, knots ruled the catwalks, with models’ hair pulled back and twisted in different shapes at myriad collections.

At Ferragamo the choice was in sync with the ballet inspiration, as creative director Maximilian Davis riffed on links between the Florentine house and dance stars across the decades. Hairstylist Virginie Moreira parted manes in the middle and knotted the hair with a soft hand, for a not-so-messy bun leaving a tuft free to fall on the nape. Ditto at Bally, where Anthony Turner executed a similar style on some models while respecting the natural hair texture, and at Iceberg, where Michaël Delmas worked with Wella Professional products to deliver the style with a matte finishing.

Conversely, plenty of gel marked the sleek take on the hairdos at Sportmax and Max Mara. At Sportmax, Olivier Schawalder pulled back the hair and knotted it in an asymmetric shape, while at Max Mara, Odile Gilbert doubled the effect, taking inspiration from the ‘90s for a graphic and shiny result.

At Antonio Marras, Eugene Souleiman referenced the ‘50s, twisting manes in old-school hairdos to match the rockabilly vibe of the collection, and at the Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini show, where he emphasized sharp precision, combing the hair back and tying it in perfect little ballet buns.
