A UFA Game of Mistakes

How often has this happened to you? You’ve mucked your garbage cards in early position and there is nothing left to do but to watch the other player finish the hand. Because you aren’t emotionally or financially involved in the hand, you can tell EXACTLY what everyone has.

It’s completely obvious to you that one player has the nuts, for instance. And you watch, fascinated, as another player bets into the nut hand with NO outs. To compound the error, the player who is drawing dead now calls a raise on the river to lose even more money.

Before the winner is turned over, you mentally call the winning hand to yourself, and are not at all surprised when the two cards you expected to see are revealed.

Why are hands so easy to read when you’re NOT involved? Good question!

Why are they so hard to read when you have YOUR money in the pot? Another good question.

Poker is a game of mistakes. The player who makes the least misjudgments, misreads and downright DUMB plays is most likely to go home with the cash.

I’m going to give you an exercise that is quite advanced for a change. Every once in a while you should be given a chance to go to another level of UFA play. If you are like most players (myself included), you won’t be able to complete this exercise for long. At best you’ll only be able to manage a few minutes of the exercise before failing.

Here is what I want you to do. One night next week, before you get out of the car in your cardroom parking lot and go in to play, I want you to stop for a few minutes and concentrate. I want you to visualize yourself as you sit behind the wheel. As you see yourself, pretend that you are a director in a movie where you are the star. The movie is about you. Now you are NOT the player, you are the director watching an actor playing you.

Are you still with me? The person that is normally you, now is an actor playing you, ok?

For as long as you can maintain the exercise, watch yourself play poker from a camera angle just over your right shoulder. Within the picture frame, the camera can see all the players at the table and can zoom in on your hand when it is dealt to you.

Instead of you putting your money in the pot, you are watching an actor putting his chips in the pot. Now the camera follows everyone in turn around the table. From this detached point of view, suddenly everyone’s motives for acting are revealed. Including YOURS.

To your amazement, you will find yourself saying about the actor playing you. “Why did he do that? That was so STUPID! The guy in the three seat OBVIOUSLY has the best hand!”

Now as the director, you tell the actor that is playing you …

Drawing Dead: A Poker ligaz11 Cop Mystery

By now you’ve seen the headline: Vegas Poker Room Massacre! Looked at the pictures of the dead lying around the poker table. Read the story about the losing player who went berserk and killed two other players before being killed himself. The problem is the pictures weren’t worth a thousand words and no one got the story right. So I’m going to tell you the true story of the Drawing Dead Murders. It’s about a poker player we called The Little Guppy and why he was shot to death at the Midnight Game, the Majestic Casino’s Saturday Night $500-$1000 Limit Hold’em Game. Every detail of his death, and the investigation that followed, is exact. I should know. I’m the one who killed him.

In old-time wise-guy Vegas, whether you played your poker in a Glitter Gulch sawdust joint or a Strip carpet joint, there was always a Poker Goon watching. The Goons were oversized enforcers with saps in their pockets and guns in their waistbands whose job it was to deal out street justice. Cheat another player – the Goon would take you into the back alley. Steal from the poker room – the Goon would take you down to the basement. Pull out a gun in the poker room – the Goon would shoot you dead on the spot.

That Vegas is long gone. Street justice has been replaced by due process. The old-time poker joints have been replaced by modern up-scale poker rooms: The Bellagio. The Mirage. The Majestic. The Poker Goons have been replaced by Poker Cops. My name is Talbot. I’m Chief of Poker Room Security, the Poker Cop, at the Las Vegas Majestic Hotel & Casino. My job is to make sure that the Small Fish ($2-$4 Minnows, $3-$6 Guppies), who swim in, cash in hand, and the Big Fish ($30-$60 Sharks, $50-$100 Piranha) who swim out with most of that cash – minus the Room’s Rake – cause no trouble.

I don’t have to go looking for trouble. Trouble knows where I live. The night I killed the Little Guppy, Joey Rosenberg, the Majestic’s Poker Room Manager, comes up to me looking real worried. Joey never looks worried. I ask, “What’s wrong?”

“Tally,” he tells me, “there’s a Little Guppy, strictly Cheap Seats, trespassing in the Holy Land and spooking the Midnight Game. He’s sitting there glaring, crazy-like, at the other players. He bought in for six racks of purple but he’s not looking at his cards or even playing the game, just paying the blinds and staring. It’s spooky. I want you there if he freaks out.”

Unlike the Cheap Seats, where the checks are blue and red, and the hold’em is friendly no-fold ’em, the Holy Land, the Majestic’s High Stakes ligaz11 Poker Platform, is where the checks are black and purple and the poker is deadly serious. The Midnight Game, named for its start time, is where the Majestic Poker Room holds its Saturday Night $500-$1000 …

Beat Web Casinos

Bill Haywood’s strategy for beating Web casinos, as outlined in his 198 page book Beat Web Casinos: The Shrewd Player’s Guide to Internet Gambling, is simple: Play at casinos that offer the best bonuses, play enough of a low-risk game like baccarat or basic strategy blackjack to meet your bonus obligations, then cash out. He calls it “poaching deposit bonuses” and while casinos hate it, it’s the only real advantage an online player has.

For those unfamiliar with bonus poaching, I’ll give a quick example. Sign up at a casino that offers, say, a 15% sign-up bonus. Deposit $1000, and you receive a $150 bonus. Now, with $1150 in your account, play just enough blackjack or baccarat to meet the requirements of the promo without losing much of your stake. (You are usually required to wager one or two times the value of the bonus before you can cash it out). Then cash out — hopefully with your original deposit and a piece of the bonus in your pocket — and move to the next casino.

I’ve done this myself numerous times (see our reviews page) and it can work. One online gambler, after reading my review of Gaming Club, wrote to tell me how he registered for the casino’s $25 promotion, hit triple seven on the slots twice, won $1500, and had the money deposited into his account in four days. The player never even made a deposit. That’s bonus poaching at its best.

There’s really not much more to it, although Haywood beefs up his bonus section to include advice on keeping detailed logs and records, basic guidance on avoiding scam operations, and tips on camouflaging your play so you don’t get blacklisted. Indeed, his discussion on the shared blacklist of bonus poachers maintained by the Interactive Gaming Council is one of the more enlightening sections in the book.

Beyond the bonus strategy, Haywood offers a brief but succinct rundown of the legalities of 789betting gambling, plus information on some of the main software providers and Net resources, the arithmetic of gambling, basic blackjack strategy and gambling addiction.

Give Haywood credit for having the guts to call it like he sees it. In particular he takes many of the online gaming commissions and associations to task for working for the benefit of the casinos and not the players they claim to represent.

Haywood’s information is generally accurate, but he is quick to jump to conclusions. For example, Haywood repeatedly tells us not to play at Handa-Lopez casinos, such as the Grand Dominican. His reason? “I cannot tell you why because I cannot prove it. Trust me.” If Haywood has evidence of wrong-doing online gamblers need to hear about it. Let’s hope the facts come out in the next edition.

While his lists of Good and Bad casinos are generally sound, surprisingly, Haywood recommends playing at Golden Palace. Golden Palace has a long history of locking out the accounts of players suspected of bonus abuse, and many of these …

Celebrity Gambling. Bet On Situs Judi Slot Online Terpercaya!

How can you resist? You can’t, so set aside this Wednesday night for FOX’s special, “Celebrity Boxing” featuring a “Partridge Family” alumnus against one of the “Brady Bunch”, Tonya Harding, Queen of the Ice Scandals, vs Paula Jones, member of the Clinton Accuser Posse, and washed up rapper Vanilla Ice vs a Mystery Opponent. And if that’s not special enough, Intertops.com is offering odds on all the bouts. Realizing the immense appeal of such match ups, Intertops quickly created several betting options for the online gambler.

In the battle of the former sitcom child stars, The Partridge Family’s Danny Bonaduce faces Brady Bunch’s Barry Williams with Bonaduce the favorite at 2/5. Williams’ chances are currently listed at 7/4. In the match of the scandal queens, the notorious Tonya Harding is the 1/5 favorite with Paula Jones at 3/1. And despite not knowing who Vanilla Ice will fight, Intertops picks the Mystery Opponent to win with odds at 7/20. How embarrassing is that?

Intertops chief bet manager, Michael Marz says he’s offering these betting options because the bouts are all legitimate matches and “putting former celebrities in a ring together to trade punches makes for one of the most entertaining specials to ever air on television.”

Entertaining indeed. As long as someone checks Tonya Harding’s gloves before the match and the referee doesn’t let Vanilla Ice dance around too much.

“Celebrity Boxing” airs Wednesday, March 13, at 9pm EST on FOX.

Hey Max, Can I go to jail for gambling online? – Judd

Short Answer: You’re more likely to win the lottery.

Details: Only one American has ever gone to jail over criminal charges relating to Internet gambling. That unlucky fellow is Jay Cohen, owner of the World Sports Exchange online sportsbook.

In March 28, 2000 Cohen was convicted in a New York federal court for one count of conspiracy and seven counts of violating the Interstate Wire Act of 1961. Cohen was sentenced to 21 months in prison, two years of supervised release, a special assessment of $800, and a fine of $5,000. He is currently free on bond.

Keep in mind, though, that Cohen was the OWNER of the sportsbook – a bookie – and not a PLAYER. To my knowledge, no player has ever faced charges for gambling online. You can read more about Cohen’s plight here.

Hey Max, What’s better, Java or Flash?

Short Answer: They’re both good.

Details: Back in the old days (circa 1998), you had to download a program application if you wanted to gamble at an online casino. But Togel Hongkong  casino operators soon discovered that some people didn’t like waiting to download a big file, and others weren’t comfortable installing the software on their computers.

So the operators developed “instant-play” casinos using Java and Flash technology. I’ve gambled at both Java and Flash casinos and, frankly, don’t see a whole lot of difference — except that Flash graphics tend to look a little slicker, especially on slots.

The Java games at The …

IGW Releases Horse Betting Software

MIAMI — Global Entertainment Holdings/Equities, Inc. (OTCBB:GAMM; http://www.globalentertainmentinc.com) announced today that its subsidiary, Interactive Gaming & Wagering (IGW), has released versatile, new horse betting software. IGW rolled out a successful release to its client site located at http://www.betgameday.com earlier last month.

The horse betting market handle at North American tracks is estimated to be worth $20 billion. IGW’s new system enables gaming operators to accept bets from players on a non-pari-mutuel system. On average, online sportsbooks hold about 30% of the total handle, which represents a significant revenue opportunity for licensees of IGW software.

“Interactive Gaming & Wagering developed this software in response to market needs both externally and internally,” stated Bryan Abboud, President of IGW. “The online gaming market is witnessing a tremendous demand for horse wagering and our current licensees requested the opportunity to grow their business in this area.”

The IGW software system offers a myriad of Judi Slot Online betting options — from standard bets to Trifecta, Quinella, and Superfecta, which equates to more fun for players and increased revenue potential for operators. Currently there are no other non-pari-mutuel online horse betting systems that offer Pick 3 and Pick 6 wager types, which means IGW is first-to-market in this area.

The newly released horse betting software compliments IGW’s suite of online gaming software systems, which includes Java casino software and an online Sportsbook software that powers some of the industry’s most successful wagering sites. IGW …

The Third-Time Charm — Part II

In Part I, I covered the first three days of the Doyle Brunson North American No-Limit Hold’em Poker Championship. This event concluded the third Festa al Lago tournament, a series of 11 events conducted in mid-October at the five-diamond Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The championship honored Brunson, a man many consider the premier living legend of poker.

Doyle was on hand for the taping of the final table. If you read Part I (if not, it’s archived on cardplayer.com), surely you came away with the idea that I believe we should study the top players’ thought processes in an effort to improve our games. So, who better to hit up for some ideas than “Texas Dolly”? I sat down with Doyle before play started and asked, “We know the top players are aggressive and have heart, but is there a lesser known trait that runs through them?”

Doyle responded, “That’s sort of like the question I’ve been asked most: What does it take to become a great poker player?” I nodded, and he continued, “I think the answer to that is the ability to recall what happened in the past. Sometimes I’ll remember a situation with a player that took place 15 or 20 years ago. When that situation arises again, I vividly recall it and take advantage of it. For example, Stu Ungar had a habit of stacking his chips very neatly before he bet when he was bluffing. I remembered that and won a big pot from him. So, if you have a good memory, you have the capability of becoming a good poker player.”

Interestingly, at Sam’s Town in 1999, I asked T.J. Cloutier what one thing contributed most to his tournament success, and he answered in similar fashion. T.J. told me he might not remember an opponent’s name, but if he ever played against him for any period of time, he’d always be able to recall the way he played.

The previous day, we had 10 players sitting at the final table. But, for PPT qualifications, a WPT final table consists of six. Huh, PPT? The Professional Poker Tour is a WPT Enterprises undertaking. Approximately 200 players will be invited to join the PPT during its first season. The listing of players and more information on the PPT can be found on the worldpokertour.com website.

You may have noticed that there should be at least $6,240,000 in outstanding chips. After activating my clay detector and unsuccessfully scouring the area, I decided that some random chip-up exchange or movement from one table to another had gone awry. Let the conspiracy theorists have at it.

After situs poker online pkv games Tournament Director Jack McClelland individually introduced the players in the foreground of the beautiful shooting fountains of Bellagio, play began at 7:18 p.m. with blinds of $12,000-$24,000 and antes of $3,000 for each player. The champion hoisted his trophy almost six hours later. There were numerous breaks (but …

Top two Dominoqq Terpercaya kick on, EPL deal shakes La Liga and farewell to Barça’s stripes

* Spain dropped to tenth in this month’s FIFA World Rankings, their lowest position since 2006. They are still reigning European champions, so summer 2016 is the earliest the golden age of La Roja can officially be said to have ended

* La Primera went back to being a two-horse race as Atletico Madrid surprisingly collapsed 2-0 at Celta Vigo on Sunday to fall six points behind Barcelona in third place. Coach Diego Simeone apologised to his fans and admitted he had picked the wrong team to travel to Galicia.

* City rivals Real resumed normal service a week after their Saturday from hell with a workmanlike 2-0 victory at home to Deportivo La Coruña. Isco and Karim Benzema were on target, Ronaldo assisted one goal and Gareth Bale still got booed by a fraction of the never-satisfied Bernabeu.

Read the Real-addicted press and there is always a crisis for the league Dominoqq Terpercaya leaders. This week it is Ronaldo’s lack of goals in 2015 – only three versus Lionel Messi’s 15. Then there is Carlo Ancelotti’s favoured 4-3-3 formation, which 91% of Real fans said this week they would like to ditch in favour of 4-4-2.

* A new Bernabeu stadium, planned since 2004, is once more on hold after Madrid’s Supreme Court halted work. The rejigged stadium, 15 metres higher and 24 metres deeper than the present one to accommodate a hotel, shops and parking, will have to go back to the drawing board.

* Barça were more florid, hammering Levante 5-0 at the Camp Nou with Messi bagging yet another hat-trick. Neymar and Luis Suarez also scored, putting the finishing touches to a familiar tableau of a hapless victim being ravished by the mega-club of Catalonia and its global superstars.

Coach Luis Enrique, whose head Messi was apparently demanding only a few weeks ago, could not help eke out an “I told you so” gloat to the press in the light of an eleventh straight win which matched Pep Guardiola’s tenure.

“We have the best positional attack in the world,” he opined. “We are the best at attacking ten defenders,” he added, before his now customary praise for his Argentine maestro.

Positionally, Enrique’s Barça resemble Guardiola’s in their use of tiki-taka as they approach enemy lines but then tend to differ by whipping the ball wide to set-up a cross, while Messi has become very fond of a chip over the back four for Neymar to latch onto.

* Real resume the three-pronged Spanish challenge for the Champions League this week with a midweek trip to Schalke. Los merengues are rated second by the bookies behind Bayern Munich with Barcelona third and Atletico fifth, behind Chelsea.

* Barça moved closer to the Copa del Rey with a bread and butter win over Villareal in their semi-final first leg. 3-1 should have been 4-1 had Neymar not fluffed a penalty. An all-Catalonia final is still on the cards …

Bola88 Trips in Your Hand in Omaha

Two of the most interesting hands I played at the World Poker Open in Mississippi involved trips in my hand while playing pot-limit Omaha high. This holding is, of course, a serious drawback to your chances of winning the pot. Normally, to ever get involved, you would need to have three aces or three kings on the button (most likely with a suited card with them), or be in the big blind in an unraised pot — or be a little bit crazy.

Can you win a pot on a drawout if you were never behind the entire time? Here is a hand that I played in an Omaha cash game in which I held the best hand throughout, yet felt as if I had drawn out to win the pot! I was on the button with aces, one of which was suited with the 8hearts. Everyone folded around to the player on my right, who opened with a raise. It seemed natural for me to reraise in order to knock out the blinds and limit the number of my opponents to one, as in Omaha, aces play much better against a single Bola88 opponent than multiple opponents. That applied even more strongly to my hand than usual, as I held three aces, a hand with which I would be absolutely terrified if facing more than one opponent. (If I get three aces in an Omaha game, I often muck them before the flop, but here, I was braver because of the way the betting had gone.) To my dismay, I not only failed to knock out both blinds, but my $100 reraise got reraised to $250 by one of the blinds. To my relief, the initial raiser on my right folded. Now, I had the choice of reraising the maximum, which would put me nearly all in, or trying to guess whether the flop helped my opponent when it came. There was, of course, no question that he would call if I reraised, as he was clearly pot-committed. I decided not to play any guessing games and popped him back, and he called.

The flop that came down looked like a miracle to me — A-K-9 with a two-flush. I had hit the case ace to give me quads. Of course, I could play only two of the three aces in my hand, this being Omaha, but top set is still a mighty fine holding even when the fourth card of the set is out of play. I bet my last $200. My opponent, who held two pair in his hand, kings and fives, had flopped second set, and of course called. When we showed our hands, he was thoroughly disgusted that I had hit a one-outer to have a higher set than his. The board paired nines on the turn — and I had helped my hand again. I won the pot when a blank came on the end.

Any Omaha player …

Time Running Keluaran HK Out For Injured Korean Stars

The seasons are changing in South Africa. The summer weather is coming to an end and the beaches of Durban and Cape Town are no longer as busy as they were. Fall has arrived and soon, winter will come to bring pleasant days but cold nights to cities such as Johannesburg. In 2010 however, winter means one thing in South Africa – the World Cup.

That tournament looms large on the horizon of Yeom Ki-hun.The Suwon attacker hasn’t yet played a game for his new club since arriving in Keluaran HK Gyeonggi Province from Ulsan Horang-I in the off-season. The likeable 27 year-old is battling through an annual problem – injury. He needs to start playing very soon if he is to take one of the 23 seats on the plane that leaves Incheon International Airport in late May.

Yeom, who still bears the scars from a serious automobile accident in 2006, rarely plays a full season. A series of physical problems have blighted his career and prevented him, perhaps, from becoming the star he could have been. The latest setback came in February when he fractured a bone in his foot during training with the national team at the East Asian Championships.

It was a cruel blow for the player and the former Ulsan star, who has played 30 times for the Taeguk Warriors, is keen to get back on the pitch to show what he can do. “I haven’t given up on going to the World Cup. The operation went well and at the moment, I am feeling good,” Yeom told local media in March.

“My recovery is coming on leaps and bounds,” he added. “My strong points are such things as taking free-kicks, crossing and shooting. If I show that I am at my best, opportunities should come my way.”

Yeom expects to be back around the middle of this month and that is looking a little optimistic and is cutting it fine. Assuming he does return on schedule, and with this versatile attacker you can never be sure, it doesn’t give him much time to get himself back to match fitness and build his stamina.

National team coach Huh Jung-moo has an exhibition match in Seoul against Ecuador planned on May 16 – the only game in the Land of the Morning Calm before the big event – and the selected stars will get together on May 9. If Yeom is not in that roster then it all will be too late.

The same applies to Seol Ki-hyeon, another winger who can play on either side or even in the middle. The former English Premier League star left Fulham in the winter to come and play for Pohang Steelers. At the age of 31, he had never played in the K-League in his career and he still hasn’t. A knee injury that didn’t seem to serious at first has dragged on.

At almost every press conference …
